Harry Kanada Resident of Walnut Creek, Harry Kanada passed away peacefully on April 19, 2009 at John Muir Hospital in Concord, California. Harry was born March 30, 1922 in Concord, California. He attended Concord Elementary and Mt. Diablo High School. While at Mt. Diablo High School, he was on the track team as a broad jumper. He earned his letter in track with a jump of 17 feet. Harry and brother Tatsuki were drafted from the internment camp in Gila River, Arizona. Harry served in Germany as a rifleman in the Military Police. After his discharge, he worked at a supermarket in the produce department. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Suejiro and Tatsumi; brothers, Frank, George, James (KIA-WWII) and Tatsuki; sister Aki and neice Suzi of Minnesota. Harry is survived by sister-in-law Evelyn Kanada and nephew Gordon Kanada of Lafayette; niece Karen Leong of San Jose; niece Joan (Jerry) Petersen children Jenny and Jackie of Minnesota; niece Gorgette Kanada of Minnesota; and nephew George (Vicky) Kanada children Tanya and Jeff of Minnesota and many great nieces and nephews. Harry will be remembered as a kind and generous man and will be greatly missed by the many lives he has touched.
