Mildred
Ichikawa (Age 91) of Vienna, VA died 10 January 2010 at Fairfax Hospital. She is
survived by her husband, Grant; son, Bryan and daughter, Lona; daughter-in-law,
Alina; grandson, Devin; and two sisters Kiku Matsushima and Pat Bacon (Hawaii).
She served as a linguist with the assimilated rank of 2nd LT with the first
group of Japanese American women deployed to occupied Japan during WWII. She
also served as a dedicated CIA wife.A memorial service celebrating Millie’s life
will be held at 10:00 AM on 23 January 2010 at Money and King Funeral Home, 171
W. Maple Avenue, Vienna, VA 22180. All friends are welcome to have lunch with
the family right afterwards at the Harvest Moon restaurant, 7260 Arlington
Boulevard, Falls Church, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be
made in her name to the Japanese American Veteran’s Association (JAVA), for the
NARA Digitalization Project which is a project to collect all relevant data on
the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and the Nisei who served in the Military
Intelligence Service during WWII.
